Welcome to Alt Chat.

Alt Chat is a space for alternative people, creatives, gamers, emos, goths, cosplayers, anime lovers, music lovers, and anyone who feels a little different from the mainstream.

We built Alt Chat for real connection, friendship, dating, flirting, creativity, and community. This is a place where people can be weird, romantic, expressive, stylish, nerdy, emotional, funny, and completely themselves.

To keep Alt Chat safe and welcoming, all users must follow these Community Guidelines.

1. Be Kind and Respectful

Alt Chat is for connection, not cruelty.

Treat other members with basic respect, even if you are not interested in them romantically or socially.

Rejection is normal. Harassment is not.

You may not insult, threaten, bully, stalk, shame, or repeatedly message someone after they have clearly shown they are not interested.

If someone says no, stops replying, blocks you, or asks you to leave them alone, respect that immediately.

2. No Hate, Harassment, or Discrimination

Alt Chat welcomes people from many backgrounds, identities, subcultures, and lifestyles.

We do not allow hate, abuse, or targeted harassment based on things like:

  • Race or ethnicity
  • Nationality
  • Religion
  • Gender
  • Sexual orientation
  • Disability
  • Body type
  • Age
  • Appearance
  • Personal identity

This includes slurs, hateful symbols, degrading comments, threats, or encouraging others to harass someone.

Alternative does not mean cruel. Edgy does not mean hateful.

3. Be Honest About Who You Are

You must represent yourself truthfully.

Do not pretend to be someone else, impersonate another person, or create fake accounts to deceive people.

Do not use someone else’s photos without permission.

Cosplay, fantasy styling, roleplay, and creative profiles are welcome, but they must not be used to trick, scam, manipulate, or mislead other users.

4. No Minors

Alt Chat is intended for adults only.

You must be at least 18 years old to use Alt Chat.

Do not create an account if you are under 18.

Do not attempt to contact, sexualize, exploit, or endanger minors in any way.

Any content involving minors in a sexual, suggestive, exploitative, or unsafe context is strictly prohibited and may be reported to the appropriate authorities.

5. Respect Boundaries and Consent

Flirting is allowed when it is mutual and respectful.

You may not send unwanted sexual messages, explicit images, repeated romantic pressure, or private content without consent.

If someone seems uncomfortable, changes the subject, stops replying, says no, or blocks you, respect that immediately.

Consent can be withdrawn at any time.

6. No Threats, Violence, or Dangerous Behavior

Do not threaten, encourage, celebrate, or promote real-world harm.

This includes:

  • Threats of violence
  • Encouraging harm toward others
  • Encouraging self-harm
  • Doxxing
  • Blackmail
  • Intimidation
  • Stalking
  • Revenge behavior

If we believe someone may be in immediate danger, we may take action to protect users and the community.

7. No Scams, Spam, or Manipulation

Alt Chat is for real people and real connection.

You may not use Alt Chat to:

  • Trick people out of money
  • Request financial help under false pretenses
  • Promote fake investments
  • Ask for gift cards, crypto, bank transfers, or payment app transfers
  • Advertise suspicious services
  • Phish for passwords or login codes
  • Send spam or mass messages
  • Use bots or fake engagement
  • Manipulate users for personal gain

Fake accounts, scam accounts, and spam accounts may be removed.

8. Respect Privacy

Do not share another person’s private information without permission.

This includes:

  • Phone numbers
  • Addresses
  • Email addresses
  • Workplace or school details
  • Legal names
  • Private social media accounts
  • Private photos
  • Messages or screenshots
  • Location details

Private content should stay private.

9. Profile Photos and Content

Your profile should reflect you, your style, your creativity, or your interests.

Cosplay, alternative fashion, goth, emo, punk, fantasy looks, gaming references, anime-inspired aesthetics, creative edits, and artistic self-expression are welcome.

However, profile content may not include:

  • Hate symbols or hateful slogans
  • Graphic violence
  • Sexual content involving minors
  • Non-consensual intimate content
  • Stolen photos
  • Impersonation
  • Private information belonging to someone else
  • Scams, spam, or misleading promotions

Alt Chat may remove content that violates these guidelines.

10. Keep Dating Respectful

Alt Chat may be used for dating, flirting, friendship, and community.

Do not pressure users for dates, photos, replies, personal information, sexual conversations, or off-platform contact.

No one owes you a response, a match, a date, affection, attention, or an explanation.

Respect people’s choices and move on politely.

11. Keep Content Legal and Safe

Do not use Alt Chat to post, request, sell, or promote illegal content, illegal services, or dangerous activity.

This includes:

  • Fraud
  • Exploitation
  • Trafficking
  • Stolen goods
  • Hacking or phishing
  • Illegal substances
  • Content that puts others at risk

Users are responsible for following the laws that apply in their location.

12. Reporting and Blocking

If someone makes you uncomfortable, you can block or report them.

Reports help us protect the community.

Please use reporting tools honestly and only report content or behavior that you believe violates these guidelines.

False reports, revenge reports, or abusing the reporting system may result in account action.

13. Account Enforcement

If you violate these guidelines, Alt Chat may take action depending on the situation.

This may include:

  • Removing content
  • Sending a warning
  • Limiting account features
  • Temporarily suspending an account
  • Permanently banning an account
  • Reporting serious safety concerns when legally required or necessary

Severe violations may result in immediate removal without warning.

14. We Are Building This Community Together

Alt Chat is meant to be a place where people who feel different can find connection, friendship, romance, creativity, and belonging.

You do not have to be perfect here.

You do have to be respectful.

Be playful. Be strange. Be romantic. Be dramatic. Be creative. Be yourself.

Just do it without harming other people.
