Alt Chat Privacy Policy

1. Age Requirement

Alt Chat is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. You may not use Alt Chat if you are under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, and we delete such accounts and data when we become aware of them.

2. Information We Collect

Account and Profile Information

We may collect information such as:

Name or display name

Username or user ID

Email address

Phone number (used for sign-in verification)

Login and authentication information (including Sign in with Apple or Google sign-in, if you use them)

Age or date of birth

Gender

Dating preferences / sexual orientation

Profile photos and gallery images

Bio and profile text

Interests and community or style preferences

Profile visibility and discovery settings (such as distance radius, age range, and who can see or rate you)

Location Information

We collect approximate or precise location (with your permission) to show people nearby, display distance, and support location-based discovery. Location is used while you use the app. You can decline or revoke the location permission in your device settings, though nearby features may stop working.

Activity and Interaction Information

We may collect information such as:

Matches, likes, dislikes, follows, profile visits, and profile views

Profile ratings and compliments you send or receive

Posts, replies, polls, and other community content you create in the Lounge, Groups, chat rooms, Night Chats, or Watch Parties

Reports you submit and moderation-related records

Messages and Shared Media

We may collect information such as:

Chat messages

Images shared in chat

Content you post in rooms and community areas

Messages are stored so we can deliver and display them; they are not private from the people you send them to.

Purchase Information

If you buy VIP subscriptions or other paid features, we may collect:

Purchase history

Subscription status

Product ID

Transaction confirmation details from app stores or payment processors

Payment card details are processed by the app store or payment provider and are never seen or stored by Alt Chat.

Device, App, and Technical Information

We may collect technical information such as:

Device type

Operating system

App version

Device identifiers such as the push-notification token

IP address

App interactions

Login events

Security events

This helps us operate, secure, maintain, and improve the app.

Advertising and Analytics Information

Our Android app displays ads served by Google AdMob. On Android, AdMob may collect information such as:

Advertising ID

Device identifiers

Ad interactions

Approximate location

App activity

This information is used for ad delivery, ad measurement, fraud prevention, security, and app improvement. You can reset or limit your advertising ID in your Android device settings.

Our iOS app contains no advertising. The iOS app does not display ads and does not include advertising SDKs, advertising identifiers, third-party analytics SDKs, or crash-reporting SDKs, and it does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to:

Provide and operate Alt Chat's features (discovery, matching, chat, community rooms, ratings, compliments, Watch Parties)

Personalize what you see, such as nearby profiles and suggested content

Process subscriptions and purchases and manage VIP entitlements

Keep the community safe: moderation, enforcement of our rules, fraud and abuse prevention, and security

Respond to support requests and reports

Comply with legal obligations

4. How Information Is Shared

We may share information:

With other users: your profile content (photos, bio, interests, distance, and activity such as ratings received) is visible to others by design. Anonymous room aliases are shown in Night Chats instead of your profile identity.

With service providers that operate our infrastructure (listed in Section 10)

With authorities when required by law or to protect safety

As part of a business transfer, if Alt Chat is ever acquired or merged

We do not sell your personal information.

5. Data Retention

We keep information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information unless limited retention is required for legal, safety, fraud-prevention, dispute, or compliance reasons.

6. Account Deletion and Data Deletion

You can delete your account at any time in the app: Profile → Delete account. This permanently removes your profile, photos, posts, messages, matches, and related data through a full server-side deletion. You can also request deletion by contacting us at: Email: support@alt-chat.com.

7. User Controls and Choices

You can:

Edit or remove profile content at any time

Control discovery with visibility, distance, age, and "who can rate me" settings

Turn notifications on or off in your device settings

Grant or revoke the location permission in your device settings

Block or report any user from their profile, chats, posts, or rooms

8. Security

We protect information with encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), server-side access rules, and moderation systems. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and act on issues quickly.

9. Public and User-Generated Content

Content you post publicly — such as profile photos, bio, Lounge posts, group posts, and room messages — can be seen by other users. Think carefully before sharing personal details in public areas of the app.

10. Third-Party Services

Alt Chat uses third-party services, SDKs, or links, including:

Firebase (Google) — authentication, database, storage, cloud functions, and push notifications

Apple App Store and Google Play — payments and subscriptions

Google AdMob (Android app only) — advertising

GIPHY — when you use GIF search, your search terms are sent to GIPHY to return results; no account information is shared

YouTube — Watch Party videos play in the official YouTube embedded player, which operates under Google's privacy policy

Google Maps — map imagery and place lookup for location features

Hosting and infrastructure providers

These third parties may collect or process information according to their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services that we do not control.

11. International Users

Alt Chat may be accessed by users in different countries. User information may be processed, stored, or transferred in countries other than where the user lives. Data protection laws may differ depending on location.

12. California, European, and Other Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@alt-chat.com. We do not sell personal information.

13. Children's Privacy

Alt Chat is strictly 18+. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If you believe a minor is using Alt Chat, contact us at support@alt-chat.com and we will act promptly.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a new effective date, and material changes may also be announced in the app.
